Art is and always has been essential to the health of the human spirit. A lifelong artist, I have always found great healing, joy and fulfillment in the act of creating art. Painting for me is a deeply satisfying journey of inner and outer exploration, release and reintegration. To be totally lost in the moment as I paint is a meditation, a silent yet active form of prayer. Color, texture and form flow over time into an integrative, ephemeral whole; at once alchemical, transformative, and healing.

The act of painting is part of my own spiritual quest, an attempt to bring together the seen and unseen worlds. Always intrigued by round or curved forms, by trees, water, sky, wood, images from nature and dimentionality; I have been motivated the last ten years to develop plaster/acrylic bas-relief work on canvas and on wood. I continue to explore this work which combines the bas-relief with detailed relief carving, air brushed and hand brushed acrylics, wood burning, gold leaf, metals and objects from nature. Increasingly I am inspired by images from nature and our relationship to them, which in my work is expressed both literally and metaphorically.

The act of painting, carving and sculpting is part of my own spiritual quest, an attempt to integrate my life as a spiritual being living in a physical world; and to share this quest with others. Playing and experimenting with airbrushed acrylics, bas-relief, wood burning, and various other media on canvas or wood panels; I attempt to resolve the apparent disparity between spirit and matter, to integrate the opposing forces within my own psyche and to find peace within.

I intend that my paintings stimulate and provoke the conscious and unconscious reactions of you, the viewer. Believing that the vibrational energy of color and form has the transformative power to heal, inspire and motivate the viewer, I paint prayers of passion, power, and peace for myself and others.

It seems especially important to me at this momentous and confusing time in our history to continue to be actively engaged in the creative process, to share the alchemically healing results; and to give permission, encourage and inspire others to pursue their own creative spiritual quest.
